Lock 40 Staffs & Worcester Canal, Park Gate Lock

Following further assessment, it has been identified that stop plank grooves are required before a replacement walkboard can be installed at Park Gate Lock (Lock 40). At present, we do not have a confirmed timeframe for installation of these.

Until repairs can be completed, the top gate walkboard will remain out of use. Boaters should continue to cross the lock using the bottom gates.

We apologise for the inconvenience and will update this notice as soon as a timeframe for the works have been confirmed.

Please continue to refrain from using the walk board, we are waiting on a quote for its repair and will endeavour to get this back into use as soon as we can.

Customer Safety Notice - the walk board on the top gate at Park Gate Lock (Lock 40) on the Staffs & Worcs Canal has been damaged by boat impact and is not safe to be used. The lock is still in use, but pleased be advised that the top gate walkboard should not be used to cross the lock, please cross the lock over the bottom gates. The walkboard will be made safe and put back into normal use as soon as we are able to repair it fully. We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause until it is repaired.
