Boaters are advised to exercise caution when navigating through the Smethwick area.
Due to the flow from the Brasshouse Sluice feed, vessels may experience a lateral push towards the offside of the canal if travelling at insufficient speed. The effect can be more noticeable when water is feeding into the canal.
When passing through this section, please remain alert, maintain appropriate control of your vessel, and navigate with care. We ask all boaters to take extra caution when travelling through this area and to be mindful of the prevailing water conditions.
