A third party, Total Energies UK, will be carrying out a live exercise, involving the local fire service and a specialised clean up company. They will be simulating a fire and loss of containment from their Pottery Lane site at Ferrybridge, into the Aire and Calder Navigation.

The exercise will involve the use of a non-hazardous dye to visually represent the contaminants in the water. The clean up contractor may also use booms to simulate the encapsulation of contaminants.

Please could boaters in the area on the day, be aware and comply with any instructions from the third party and its contractors, allowing for delays to their journeys.

This is an exercise and there is no danger to flora or fauna in the area.

Conditions can change. Check local signage and the latest official notice before travelling.
