Navigation remains restricted on the offside at Lock 42 on the Trent & Mersey Canal due to a broken paddle.

Repairs to the damaged paddle have been delayed while our team completes other priority works.

Please note that navigation between Locks 41 and 71 remains closed due to separate restrictions. Boats cannot currently travel through this section until the wider closure is lifted.

Our teams have been delayed with other priority works, and have had to re schedule attending site to complete the necessary repairs to the disconnected paddle at Lock 42 offside on the Trent & Mersey Canal.

Our Reactive Team has attended site and identified the cause of the obstruction as a disconnected paddle. A return visit will be required to carry out the works.

These works have now been escalated to our Reactive Team, who will attend site to drain the lock and remove the obstruction. While on site, they will also inspect the paddle and carry out any necessary repairs or replacement.

The towpath side of Lock 42 remains open, and navigation is still possible.

Our teams have investigated and the lock will need to be de-watered to facilitate the required work.  We are currently planning the works around other ongoing emergency repairs. In our next update, we will be able to provide a confirmed date for when this repair will take place.
