Lock 42, Limekiln Lock - Off Side, Trent & Mersey Canal

Following our last update the repair to the damaged offside paddle at Lock 42 is expected to be completed today.

Our team will then remove the equipment over the weekend to reopen the offside lock by 5 pm on Monday 21 September.

Navigation will remain possible through the towpath-side lock.

Our team has begun repairs to the damaged offside paddle at Lock 42. However, due to issues encountered during the repairs additional work is required. The team will return on Friday, 18 September, to finish the repairs.

The offside lock will remain closed in the meantime, but navigation is still possible through the towpath-side lock.

Following our last update our team has now received the necessary equipment to repair the damaged offside paddle at Lock 42.

Our teams will be onsite on Thursday, 17 September to carry out repairs.

Our teams have been delayed with other priority works, and have had to re schedule attending site to complete the necessary repairs to the disconnected paddle at Lock 42 offside on the Trent & Mersey Canal.

Our Reactive Team has attended site and identified the cause of the obstruction as a disconnected paddle. A return visit will be required to carry out the works.

These works have now been escalated to our Reactive Team, who will attend site to drain the lock and remove the obstruction. While on site, they will also inspect the paddle and carry out any necessary repairs or replacement.

Our teams have investigated and the lock will need to be de-watered to facilitate the required work.  We are currently planning the works around other ongoing emergency repairs. In our next update, we will be able to provide a confirmed date for when this repair will take place.
