Advice - Sheffield & South Yorkshire Nav, Upstream of Rotherham Forge Island Weir, Rotherham

We have been advised by the contractors that these works have been extended due to the discovery of a protected species in the area. They are currently awaiting guidance from Natural England before they proceed any further.

This notice will be updated once we have more information.

Contractors have advised that works to repair the river wall are still ongoing and should be completed by Friday, 24th July.

Should a further extension be required, this notice will be updated as soon as possible.

Contractors have advised that the piling works have been completed and the works to repair the river wall wall will be in progress till the 14th of July.

Piling works will begin within a former car parking area adjacent to the spur which leads to the weir at Forge Island. The works are part of a Rotherham MBC scheme to develop the car park into a public amenity space.
