The contractor, working on behalf of the Environment Agency, has confirmed that works have recommenced, now that the ground condition has improved. It is anticipated that the team will remain on site for the duration of the summer.

In view of this, the restriction will stay in place and will be reviewed at the end of August.

We have been advised that works are currently paused, whilst ground conditions improve.

This notice will be updated once we have more information from the contractor.

The flood defence works, undertaken by BAM, are ongoing and will continue throughout January and February. The access route to the canal, from Dutch River, continues to be re-routed. Parking for anglers is still on the Dutch River side, only.

Access on the towpath is not affected.

BAM contractors are undertaking flood defence maintenance works on behalf of the Environment Agency. The works include raising the crest and re-grading sections of the flood embankment where necessary. Fencing will be erected to exclude the public from areas of work. The access route to the canal side from Dutch River will be re-routed around the works and parking for anglers will only be available on Dutch River Side. Access on the the towpath itself will not be affected.
