The towpath closure has now been extended until 30th September due to safety measures required for ongoing works.

The towpath closure has now been extended until 31st August as working activities still need a closure in place to ensure safe operation of the viaduct construction.

A towpath closure is required to enable the Transpennine Route Upgrade works to proceed safely with a new viaduct construction at Ravensthorpe.
The towpath closure will be in place until the 31st July 2026. This is due to delays in the phases of working for the viaduct construction and the towpath needs to remain closed for safety reasons.
