Discussions between the adjoining landowner and the Council regarding responsibility for the necessary repairs to the adjacent land remain ongoing. The towpath will therefore remain closed until these matters have been resolved and it is safe to reopen the route.

The Trust is working closely with Stratford-on-Avon District Council to facilitate the reopening of the towpath. At present, the Trust cannot undertake any remedial works to the towpath until the adjoining land, which is owned by the Council, has been stabilised.

The Council is liaising with its tenant to ensure that the stabilisation works are carried out, and the Trust is monitoring progress to ensure that these works are completed without undue delay.

We've had to temporarily close the towpath between Bishopton Lane Bridge and Timothy Road Bridge on the South Stratford Canal. A recent landslip has made this section of towpath unsafe, and we have taken the decision to close it immediately.
